Trump posted on Truth Social early Tuesday morning that he is a target of a federal investigation into the Jan. 6, 2021 U.S. Capitol riots.

Gov. Kim Reynolds has pledged not to endorse any candidate ahead of the state’s first-in-the-nation caucuses in Iowa.

DeSantis, who is expected to jump into the presidential race imminently, did not discuss Trump by name.

“This is a cycle where we certainly will need to winnow out who’s a pretender and who’s a contender,” said one Iowa Republican political consultant.

The Democratic National Committee had been slated to make a decision about Iowa’s first-in-the-nation caucuses as early as this week.

According to the Iowa Poll, 46% of likely voters say they would back Greenfield if the election were held today, and 43% say they would back Ernst.

“As governor, I had to deal with a lot of different disasters and emergencies …,” Terry Branstad said. “But this is very different.”

Although Iowa’s caucuses are likely to raise as many questions as they answer, there will be a sense of resolution as the 2020 Iowa cycle ends.

One Democratic candidate could win one or both of the delegate counts on caucus night but lose the popular vote, opening a new layer of complexity.

“There’s no denying that this is a good poll for Bernie Sanders,” said pollster J. Ann Selzer, president of Selzer & Co., which conducted the poll.
